Satanism Is Not a Reaction to Christianity

Many people who are ignorant as to what Satanism is, often think that Satanism is a reaction to Christianity. The truth is that Satanism is the world’s oldest religion and was there long before the idea of Christianity was ever conceived. Satanism is not about being evil or doing the reverse of what the Bible commands.

Many people will argue that the Church of Satan has only been around for a short period of time and therefore Satanism couldn’t possibly be the world's oldest religion. In the introduction of the Satanic Bible it is written:

It was not the practice of the black arts itself that I considered to be the story,because that is nothing new in the world. There were devil-worshipping sects andvoodoo cults before there were Christians. In eighteenth-century England a HellFire Club, with connections to the American colonies through Benjamin Franklin,gained some brief notoriety. During the early part of the twentieth century, the press publicized Aleister Crowley as the "wickedest man in the world". And there were hints in the 1920s and '30s of a "black order" in Germany.

The Satanic Bible

So the Church of Satan was not the first Satanic ministry but instead the revival of a much older religion that had been suppressed for millennia due to the persecution of Christianity and Islam. There was a time in Europe where anyone who questioned the Pope or the Roman Catholic doctrine would be burned at the Stake. Every pagan village was torched to the ground and people were presented with the choice to either convert or die.

For this reason, Satanism was forced to become an underground movement and gatherings and rituals were performed in secret. This is also why much of western occultism is written in code as people had to hide their spiritual teachings from the authorities.

Since the founding of America and the bill of rights, human beings have had more freedom to make their own choices. Thanks to the internet, we are now living in a time where there is more freedom than in any other period of history. This has made it possible for Satanism to rise to the surface so that members can practice openly without fear of being persecuted by a theocratic dictatorship.

Satanism does not acknowledge the Abrahamic God nor do they follow the teachings or doctrines of the Bible. Satanism is not about inverting the teachings of the Bible either. Satanism is not the opposite or the inversion of Christianity but instead stands as a religion on its own.

Many people think that theistic Satanism is about worshipping a character from the Bible. This is a really foolish assumption to make as there were Satanists long before the Bible was ever even written. The true Satan is nothing like the blasphemous stereotype depicted in the Bible or in Hollywood films.

Another misconception that people have about Satanism is that this religion is about committing heinous acts, being evil, and participating in blood sacrifice and cruel acts. This couldn’t be further from the truth as Satanism is actually about having true morals and high ethical standards. The Judeo Christian Bible incessantly advocates for human and animal sacrifice in the name of a bloodthirsty God who loves the smell of burning flesh.

The very condition for converting to Christianity and avoiding “eternal damnation” is through accepting Jesus’ sacrifice. The Bible openly admits to human sacrifice and that accepting this blood sacrifice is a requirement for being recruited into the religion. The Bible also states that Jehova also killed hundreds upon thousands of innocent people in a bloodthirsty rage.

Satanism condemns these suicidal and vulgar teachings and instead celebrates human nature and common sense. Satanists practice natural law and seek to become better human beings through personal development and growth. Satanism is about being the best human being that you can possibly be and is about setting an example to the world around you.
