Conscious Awareness Meditation Practice – Part One
Why is this so important to be aware of and to practice? Because the Mind is ALL
I've spoken before about practicing awareness.
Really take good looks here and there at your thoughts, as you go about your day. Almost like you're playing tourist. Take in the mental scenery. And tell yourself: “I am aware”. Look at your surroundings, note what's going on around you and inside your head. Pay attention.
Most people are walking around in sleep mode/auto-drive. Transfixed by their mini computer/personal surveillance/tracking device (cell phone). Hooked on getting 'likes' on twitter. Social media is designed to be addictive. Its a terrific time eater/distraction that accomplishes absolutely nothing for you in terms of improving your life in any practical meaningful way, eating the time you could have spent working to better your life.
I'm telling you about this meditation practice for several reasons; the first because this exercise is based on the principle of mentalism.
All is mind. This was taught by Thoth in Ancient Egypt. This is the first of His hermetic principles of philosophy. Everything we understand to be the material universe is underlaid by spirit or thought. This is unknowable and undefinable, as a finite mind (such as ours) cannot quantitatively understand the infinite but this sustaining force can be perhaps, understood as a omnipresent, infinite, living mind.
And so, we practice utilizing our minds in a positive constructive way to achieve well being and spiritual advancement. This is the art of learning to transmute your mental condition. As you become aware of the world within you, so too you become aware of the world without. Everything begins from thought, from the ether.
You have the choice to make conscious decisions as to what thoughts and feelings you allow to enter your domain or, choose (unconsciously) to be pulled and pushed hither and yon, without any awareness or self control. You have the opportunity to choose. But more importantly, there are very sound reasons why you want to make that choice.
One of the first is that:
You take authority of this all important aspect of self, so that others can no longer control you. Energy, power and matter are all subordinate to the mastery of the mind.
Self Mastery begins by making a conscious effort to train yourself away from indulging in the kind of negative inner talk that goes something like this:
Cussing and judging the people around you. That 'asshole' who just cut you off on the road, for instance. Focussing mentally on how you hate this or that, constantly berating yourself for perceived faults or inadequacies....telling yourself you aren't good enough, that you're ugly.....too fat, too skinny...being angry because the bus is late or anytime you don't get what you think you're entitled to, you pull the victim card....I'm being discriminated against, because of X Y or Z. Take your pick its all the same self defeating negativity. Choosing to be aware of non-productive errors in thought as they come in then replacing them immediately with positive affirmative thoughts is taking personal responsibility. You are not a child so....stop thinking like one.
The entertaining of a state of mind in which one is easily irritated, feeling anger at the world in general, because you got a hard life, rough start, unfair shake...is not a productive one. The fact is everybody has difficulties, everyone has a story...you aren't unique in that you too, find life difficult. Allowing yourself to believe/entertain self-defeating thoughts of this sort is a form of self indulgence which can quite literally ruin your life. It's extremely toxic mental practice. You must make a concerted effort to snap out of it and re-program yourself.
This toxic thought pattern/habit is difficult to break, as you'll discover once you consciously begin taking control of the thoughts you entertain daily. That ego mind is going to try to buck you off like a wild horse. But the thing is, its a powerful thing, like the brute strength of a horse. That strength can be tamed, harnessed and put to work for you, for your betterment, and this is how you begin.
If you spend even one week consciously monitoring what thoughts are spontaneously occurring to you, making notes of how many are negative/victim mentality versus how many are pragmatic and self helpful....you'd be very surprised.
For the majority the thought stream currently entertained is predominantly negative and unhelpful, to yourself or anybody else around you.
Working to re-program is accomplished by practicing conscious awareness meditation. This is a psychic form of detoxification, practicing mental hygiene, which is the first step towards personal mental health, happiness and freedom. Taking hold of ones thoughts by practicing conscious awareness meditation will literally change your life.
Exercising cognizant dominion over the tenor and quality of ones thoughts is vital. If you're going to spend any time meditating I'd say this is the most fundamental and necessary.
How do we begin? Begin as you are moving about through your day – be it working or whatever it is you're doing in the moment....the vital difference being.....you're going to start going about your days consciously. And the moment one of these unhelpful negative thoughts arise.....your task is to ignore it and replace it immediately with something pragmatic and positive.
I know people who are new to satanism believe the practice of void (conscious awareness meditation) means assuming the lotus position and pushing all thoughts out of your head, for extended periods of time...to think nothing at all. This is actually not the case.
It means practicing awareness in whatever you're doing. Be cognizant of whats going through your mind, then deliberately adjust the tenor of the thoughts you're choosing to entertain. It is more accurate to refer to void as conscious awareness meditation.
Become conscious of your thoughts, then learn to control them, for thought is ALL.
We have our five senses that operate in physical reality, and we have other senses which operate in the non-local or non-physical reality, though for all that they also are bound by the same natural laws. They aren't paranormal meaning, beyond natural. The ego mind is the one interfacing with these channels, but we actually possess two minds.
Back of all this sensory input and the ego mind is the Knower who makes use of all this. It is this Knower that you are striving to develop a stronger connection to. You want to shift awareness from the chattering ego mind to the deep inner knowing, the stillness, that is the Knower. And operate from that frequency.
If you have ever experienced a near death moment, when time itself slows down, you will understand what I mean. Because this is when that Knower emerges. It is this clear, calm intelligence that allows a woman to lift a car off her child, for example. Completely in the moment, the ego mind sublimated by the Knower, her only thought is to lift that car – and so she does it.
If you want to exercise mastery over what manifests in life, supremacy begins with the conscious choice to exercise dominion over the ego mind – the thoughts entertained by this mind – because these manifest in physical reality. So...what mental diet are you feeding yourself?
The outer world affects us constantly due to the fact that we allow ourselves – if we don't practice self awareness – to be pushed and pulled along by whatever random things enter our minds, triggered by whats happening out there. We do this unconsciously. Conscious awareness meditation is, in contrast to this, a moving meditation that will assist you to adopt a new mental stance that is sentient, down to earth and practical. Anybody can do this. It doesn't take psychic skill or anything special. Just know what to do, why, desire to try and practice the discipline to persist.
Begin by observing the thoughts you're entertaining then make a conscious decision to take control. When a negative self hating thought comes in, for example, replace it immediately with an affirmation. If the thought is a hateful judgemental thought towards somebody who is maybe inconveniencing you like for example: God damn that stupid bitch holding up the line (in the grocery for example), take a deep breath and focus on that. Focus on just breathing. Don't latch on(entertain). Allow the negative hateful thought that brings the impatience and anger to simply drift away by finding something else to focus on.
If you're at work, don't allow yourself to drift off mentally thinking about how much you hate so and so or the job or whatever it is. Focus on the task at hand, give it your conscious here and now attention. Don't be (in the back of your mind), wishing you were somewhere else. Be present at all times.
For another example; how many times have I witnessed people out on a date, both of them lost in their text messaging, not paying any heed to the person who is literally sitting across the table from them? This is how disconnected we are from not only one another, but from ourselves and thus, the ALL.
Wake up!
