"That which is not"

Post by Agni »

For the past months I have been experimenting a lot more with meditation. To be exact, I was focusing more on the now, the ever stillness that is everywhere.

And I have come to a conclusion. We are all life which comes from a way deeper place than our core. All life or consciousness, or unmanifested is in everything and everyone. A force that everyone and everything is part of. By that I mean all form is just a representation of what this life or consciousness dictates.

But sadly many of us have lots ourselves and we have become unconscious, meaning that we have lost touch with us, with the consciousness that we are. We no longer are aware of ourselves, but instead we identify ourselves as this form that we call body, this form that we call soul, this form that we call karma, this form that we call social identity and so on.

We certainly inhabit such forms but we are not them. People who have lost touch with this dimension, with their true self or the ever "I" or higher self that we call consciousness, are the people that are in a lot of suffering. They are identified with their forms and they are unconsciously making it worse for themselves.

The main and mostly the only reason for suffering is unconsciousness. Yes you may feel pain, but suffering entirely depends on your level of consciousness or better said unconsciousness. The more or less you are conscious, the more or less you suffer.

Being present in the moment, in here and now there is no past, and no future. You will come to realize that time doesn't exist. The psychological time I mean.

While surely matter is under the influence of constant change, we as humans keep memories in our head to haunt us while we see it as past. And we let our imagination run wild while we perceive it as future. Which in both cases can lead to further suffering if you are unconscious. Memory and imagination are both tools, we should never let tools drive us. Our very bodies are libraries of immense capacity of information, we have the power to choose what we do with such libraries. We either learn from them or we burn them by becoming unconscious.

Wake up to reality. The only thing that ever trully exists is the now. There is always now, it was always now and it will always be now.

I been noticing a trend that you, patriot and a few others seem to think we should erase our ego, become detached or sounds like some new age crap. We learn from the past and plan for a future. Yeah maybe being in the now is only good for a little bit but all the time it is unproductive. You might as well go live with the ascetic monks.

I never said you cant learn from the past or plan for the future. But being lost in them ain't gonna work. It will lead to depression and anxiety further down the line or other mental illnesses. Every action you take is in the now. Whether you plan it or not, it still happens in the present moment.

You dont need to erase the ego, but surely you shouln't be all the time identified with the ego. It will block many many doors for you if you only use that as an option, and it will slow any changes. It will block many perspectives.

Hi Agni, welcome to the T4S :)

I was just thinking about what you said and I'm thinking that focussing on the ever present now is actually a form of void meditation. Artists call this state the zone. It's when, as you are working on a piece, all thoughts of the past and present fall away (no time) as the brain shifts from L hemisphere to R (intuitive) side. In this state, it's almost like the painting paints itself and you are merely watching it happen. Its also when we get our best work.

I think its true that we have many labels, we are: son, mother, father, daughter, our profession, beautiful, ugly, smart, not smart, etc. We may encompass all those things but we are more than that. And I also think that people have forgotten who and what they really are, and that void allows us to get in touch with that.

The other useful thing about void is that it allows you a calm place to take in information and act, not re-act. Which puts me in mind of the meaning of the magician in the tarot, which says that being in control of ones thoughts means you become master of your own reality. Fully empowered.

It's about freeing you to be your own God.

I am glad you got it right. That state called the zone is exactly that. It's even better if you can enter that state at will.

It's indeed the void meditation, one of the most important meditations you can do, if you want to have true control over your life. The rest comes afterward.
