Sit comfortably and just converse with your friends. They know what you're trying to do but hopefully will get over feeling self conscious and relax soon. This will help since when they are self conscious and maybe feeling a bit silly they might kind of pull everything in tighter, making it harder to see their light body.
Bring the focus of your gaze so you are kind of looking just past their edges. Just relax. Don't try too hard. If you're short sighted it'll actually help since things are already a bit out of focus. Just relax and allow your eyes to almost go out of focus. After a few minutes you'll begin to be aware of the etheric light functional body. I find it is generally about 2 to 4 inches outside the skin of the physical body. It is very tightly connected to the physical, right inside it; it provides that animating force. It makes sure everything is energized and functioning. Hence, functional body.
Its the easiest thing to see and generally when you are trying to see the aura it'll be the first thing you'll become aware of. When you see it just relax and focus on it. It'll get clearer.
If you keep this up over the course of time (I used to practice every chance I got for the fun of it, on a bus or train, sitting in a classroom, lecture hall etc) you'll get better at this. I'm telling you the easiest way I know. When you become aware of it don't tell yourself it's 'imagination'. Your body and mind will obey and you'll stop seeing it because you just dismissed it.
You can do it on yourself, too. Just sit and study your hands. You'll see the light around them. It's faint and ghostly at first, just a suggestion but it'll come clearer in time with practice.
And then the next thing you'll see is you'll begin to catch glimpses of colors. These are like a transparent mist or clouds of energy. These are in motion all the time, like the way kelp under the sea gently moves with the motions of the tide. Its kind of like that. Or think of the aurora at the poles. It moves like that. The white etheric light functional is not like this. That's a steady light. But the emotional lights are more....fluid.
And sometimes they can come so strong you'll be amazed. I once saw a man who was beginning his welcome to my class lecture and he was interrupted by a knock on his door. He broke off and turned to the door and his bottom from the neck down was white, and his head was red. So much so that all I could see of him was this light for a few moments, not his physical. I think he was pissed at getting interrupted.
There are other ways you might be beginning to be aware of the auras of others. For example, sitting in low light in a large empty room with white walls and a soft grey and white floor, in a circle with maybe 12 other people. Having a meeting and I realize I'm seeing a halo of reflected light on the floor under each persons chair. And I thought WTF? Wheres that colored light coming from? And realize its the reflection of light from their auras. Shades of greenish yellow, blue green, yellow, blue, orange, red, green. So not seeing their white light bodies, or the clouds of colored lights, but just a soft reflection under and around like a pool of light each persons chair, a reflection of the energy field on the floor.
The vital body has amazing generative and regenerative powers. I was just reading how an Egyptian Pharaoh buried with wheat in his hand, the seeds still sprouted after 3000 years. But it is also very sensitive. Damage done to its physical magnetic poles in the body can result in sterility.
Sunlight charges it and then it goes to work most intensely when the body sleeps, repairing the wear and tear of the day. So proper sleep is very important. Sun baths can do a great deal of good but of course, moderation. There is also light that happens at sunrise and sunset in particular that is beneficial. The pineal gland is stimulated via the optic nerves naturally when exposed to light. This increases serotonin production.

Destructive mental patterns and emotional excesses do damage. And it has come clear to me that this is why they are grooming children. Introducing them to concepts of sexuality that their developing minds aren't ready yet to handle, causing depression, demoralization and destructive mental patterns like; (are you a boy or a girl?) is doing damage on the unseen level. Its a hidden or occult attack. It is setting up destructive mental patterns, warping their minds. When the vital body is severely damaged, like for example when you damage a child's mental and and physical body which damages the functional light body yet call it 'affirming', 'life saving' and a 'human right'....its doing damage to this vital body, the effects of which are not just about rendering the next generation sterile for this life, but for many lifetimes to come.
When we are severely physically damaged, the scars stay on the functional light body even after the physical has healed. Why we have some scars that don't go away even though the physical body regenerates the entire physical body every 7 years...you'd think there would be no scar. I knew a guy who shot himself in the face in a previous lifetime and in this one, his face was still not 'normal'. He still had some disfigurement in the spot the bullet struck. Imagine the damage done to a child who has had radical sterilization surgery. Look at it from the occult perspective, considering this information.

This guy has no self love. He doesn't even want to look human! This is a mental aberration manifesting in the physical. And its now scarred the vital body which is going to manifest in the physical body in the next lifetime.
I want to clarify that in the case of an adult choosing to transition, that's their decision. I'm not 'hating' on them. It's their life and they'll live or die by their own decisions. When I'm discussing occult (unseen) ramifications of radical body alterations I'm thinking about children, the future of our race. You have to ask yourself: why would they push an ideology (with a fervour that is religious) that does nothing to change biological reality of sex; that is, XX or XY chromosomes? Why can't children just be taught self love? Accepting themselves as they are? Positive body image? Leave them alone to grow up and when they're adults, they can make their own decisions. Why push constructs that impose mental, emotional and physical damage? That affects future incarnations?
The vital light body supports and sustains the normal function of the physical. And it in its turn can be affected (negatively or positively) from the mental body. Meaning your thoughts (and emotions) literally affect you physically. So its important to strive for balance and moderation in all things; mental, emotional and physical. Because thoughts become things. Another example: An ideology teaching extreme hatred and encouraging one to focus on this and act out on those teachings is very damaging to the person who chooses to do so. Better by far to focus on improvement of oneself via learning new things, grounding, physical exercise, communing with nature, looking after your physical temple and by being someone who brightens other peoples days with kind words and deeds. In this way you're not only elevating the resonance and frequency of your own magnetic field, clarifying it, brightening it, but also there is a ripple effect of positivity you are bringing that in its turn uplifts others. This is the true spiritual path.
The cleaner and clearer all the bodies become the brighter you will shine.
These fields of magnetic energy have an interesting photographic quality. As an example, a person in a room can leave a kind of 'picture' of themselves for some time after their physical has departed. This is what some 'hauntings' actually are. A kind of photographic psychic picture or recording. Like why you see old battles replaying themselves, for example. The culloden battlefield, the battle of the little bighorn or the gettysburg battlefields are all examples.
And this is also how one who can read psychic impressions are able to do psychometry. This is also why the phantom limb phenomenon happens. This functional vital principle is why also we can see hair and fingernails continue to grow for some time after a person is dead.
My dad used to operate heavy machinery and was doing a demolition job at a graveyard. A piece of debris smashed a hole in the side of a mausoleum. He was completely freaked out because inside, were a man and a woman laying on.....not sure what to call them. Pedestals. The two people were wearing old fashioned clothing and looked as if they were merely sleeping. Not rotted. Not mummified. Their faces were normal, like living people and their hair was long, silky. He actually touched some of the lace on one of their collars and while it appeared solid, it turned to dust at his touch. My older brother was there and also attested to this. My dad was so freaked, he packed up and left for the rest of the day, and refused to speak of it. My older brother told me about it.
Somehow, via some alchemy of humidity or lack thereof, they had been preserved perfectly. I know that this sounds like a tale from the old country, of vampires. Maybe this was why my dad was so freaked out. It seemed very unnatural to him.
So while there are 'recordings' impressed on the ether, this doesn't explain all the ghost and other entity encounters. When they are responding intelligently and not just reenacting something out of their physical past, when they intelligently communicate, its a being with its own separate reality and cognizance. Sometimes these are discarnate humans. Sometimes they aren't.
I was watching an old hauntings series. They constructed a kind of 'infinity' room of mirrors and then, sitting inside this construction, tried to summon the (negative) being who was haunting the place and one person there in particular (it's interesting to note that people as well as locations, can be haunted).
I spent a year as the psychic for a team of haunting investigators. And I remember a chat with the team leader who was pointing out a pair of opposing mirrors in a very haunted saloon in a 100 year old hotel we were investigating. And how he told me this was a kind of portal for spirits or entities. I also used to know a mormon guy who told me that the upper members of the mormon church literally summon spirits using this technique. I remember reading that 'lady' gaga covers all the mirrors in her house and insists a staff member sleep with her in her room. Interesting examples of mirrors acting as a portal. So here these investigators were using it too.
They had a fellow on the outside of the room watching them on camera. Non physical beings can interact via electromagnetic frequencies, hence why they can effect things like electronic instruments. They can drain the fully charged battery out of a freshly charged camera in an instant, for example and I have personally witnessed this. They can use electronic devices to communicate. And so what happened in this instance was just that. The picture grew staticky and the man had a 'feeling' something was coming through. He asked it to show itself on the count of three on his monitor, and on three he took a picture. And this is what he caught:

I have been considering why mirrors might be able to function in this way. Glass, of which a mirror is constructed, has a unique property: its not really ever solid. It's actually a liquid. Which is why really old churches for example, the glass is parchment thin at the top and thicker at the bottom. In other words...it's a liquid. And it just so happens that these ethers are especially active in liquid. Which is why you can do scrying in a bowl of magnetized water, with glass balls and black mirrors. Communication between realities or dimensions is actually based on science....it's just that the knowledge is occulted.
Think of project looking glass or stargates in black projects. I recall an interview I was listening to of a deep black project whistleblower who described one of these stargates as resembling a 'moon pool' like you see in a submarine. He said it looks just like that except the portal is rectangular, like a door. SO...it's like water:

Dr yamamoto proved water has memory. Crow777 demonstrated suggestive proof that 'outer space' isn't an airless void (as we are taught), but appears to be water. I also just wanted to show you this image of Uranus taken by the james webb telescope. It looks exactly like how a discarnate human looks (minus the rings of course), a glowing orb. As above, so below.

A man named ingo swan wrote (re remote viewing) that when you are out in the astral, conscious, you are lit up in the astral realm. Like this planet. A light that attracts attention. And I can confirm from all the years I spent exploring these places that what he says is true. What happens is you attract attention from the beings for whom these spaces are natural and they can travel in them consciously. Many of whom are not human nor human friendly. They notice you, and they come after you. I came across this interview with someone who experienced this and I can tell you by comparing what he had to say to my own experiences, that what he says is true. Hes not making up stories.
Something I find interesting however is that while he ran afoul of the greys this didn't happen to me (for the most part). I was protected by a being who (for the most part) kept them at bay. The reason for this and what that was all about came clear later on in life and is an entire other subject I'm not going to go into here. Consider this mans account of exploring out of body:
This man was so traumatized by his experiences that he stopped venturing outside the body. Which is sad because this is what these guardians of the portal do. The last thing they want is for a human to become awake, aware of these realms and proficient in mastering them. We are kept in a frequency box and if somebody begins to transcend that, it draws attention from the negatives who are minding the box. There is so much to talk about on this subject.
