This does relate back to the amrita nadi that connects from the heart to the third eye in the mid brain and the crown chakra. In the east the Kriya is they chant OM or AUM into this chakra of the heart.

In the Sanskrit text of the Upanishads, god is stated to dwell within the anahata chakra this chakra is related to being the Kingdom of God in the east. Jesus's teaching of the kingdom of god is within is probably pointing to this as he gives instructions in the new testament to do a spiritual focus that actives the heart chakra. To love god as one loves themselves that is the key to the kingdom of heaven. This would create energy in the heart chakra the spiritual heart and this relates to placing ones focus on this point to meditation. This is probably some of the original teaching that was placed into Christianity later.
